Comparison is the Thief of Joy
This certainly seems true when it comes to benchmarking.
I've personally seen examples where the reaction to industry benchmarking has led to an organisation destroying its culture and demoralising its staff.
A bespoke assessment based on a deep understanding of an organisations unique culture, context and approach will always be more effective at identifying the specific opportunities to improve performance which can be implemented without the same negative impact suffered when reacting to comparison lacking context.
